warwick thumb bass
I was in Paris recently and found a left handed guitar shop in the Pigalle.
I have never had much to do with active electronics before so I took the plunge and bought this. It's dead easy to dial up a killer tone. Controls are so simple, volume, blend and a concentric 2 band e.q. Cut/boost for highs and lows.
The wood is Ovangkol, the fingerboard Wenge and the pickup are MECs. It has a height adjustable nut, very sturdy hardware and huge gold coloured frets.
Jack Bruce likes these without frets but I like to steer by the speed humps!
It is made in Germany, another first for me, the whole body is dished to fit your body, unlike the traditional forearm and beer-gut cutouts. After playing Fenders for so many years this thing feels tiny, but it is very comfortable and tactile to hold and play.
If you're ever in Paris call in and see Nico at California Gauches 4 Rue de Douai. (see the links page)
