westone raider bass

a.k.a. the flying tin-opener

I was playing pretty full on in '84 and through lack of down time my dear departed Jazz bass was in real need of a holiday. I saw one of these at a guitar show in Sydney and bought one for a back up.

Made by Matsumoko in Japan, they could just as easily have called it a Washburn or an Aria. Despite its Heavy Metal look it's quite a versatile bass. I took a gig in an old time dance band for a few months and turned up with this as a joke but it didn't scare the old shufflers at all! I think I scared some of the band though. I must have looked like a cross between Billy Gibbons and the head waiter at the Savoy.

This bass has always only been a back up and is therefore practically unmarked. It is for sale at around $400 us. including the original case.
