1989 fender stratocaster

american standard model

Only five years between this and my sunburst and they are as different as night and day. The neck is slimmer, satin finished and sports 22 frets. The familiar 3 knob layout and oval jack socket is back as well as the rear plate covering the original designed spring cavity. Stratocasters have been subtly changing almost from the beginning and this model features the "TBX" tone circuit. It's still as good as new so I don't think I would sell it, although I might swap it if something interesting came along (see mailbox)

This is just as it left the factory. The only unusual feature is the colour. According to the catalogue at the time the only colours available on left hand models were black, white and sunburst. Perhaps a left handed painter felt sorry for us?
